Tropical Storm Blas Has Formed in the Eastern Pacific

Tropical Storm Blas has formed well off the western coast of Mexico and is expected to move west-northwestward over the next several days.
Blas is no threat to land at this time.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Tropical Storm Blas was located more than 600 miles from Manzanillo, Mexico, as of Sunday morning.
  • Blas is forecast to become a hurricane by Monday, and could become a major hurricane later this week (Category 3 or stronger).
  • This new system is currently no threat to land.
