Tropical Depression Six-E has become the latest in a string of tropical cyclones to form off the Pacific coast of Mexico.
After a record-long wait for the first named storm of the eastern Pacific hurricane season (dating to 1971), Six-E is expected to strengthen to earn the name "Estelle".
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
- Tropical Depression Six-E is located more than 370 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.
- Six-E will gradually strengthen, becoming Tropical Storm Estelle by Friday night.
- It should eventually gain enough steam to become a hurricane over the coming weekend.
- This poses no threat to any land areas for at least the next five days, if ever.
