Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to develop over parts of the Northeast on the getaway Friday before the July 4th holiday weekend.
The setup for Friday severe weather involves a rather bullish southward plunge of the upper-level jet-stream pivoting into the East.
One factor mitigating against more numerous severe thunderstorms, is that the air mass will only be marginally warm and humid, relative to what could be in place in July, ahead of a cold front.
