A slow-moving storm system will produce rounds of rain and severe thunderstorms across Germany into the start of the weekend.
Southern and central Germany will face the greatest risk for the strongest thunderstorms, capable of producing flooding downpours, hail and damaging winds, into Friday.
Among the cities at risk are Stuttgart, Munich, Nuremberg and Frankfurt.
"Severe weather [that erupted earlier in the day] will diminish late on Thursday night but is expected to develop again on Friday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Courtney Spamer said.
More drenching and locally severe thunderstorms will follow across southern Germany on Saturday.
Into Saturday, the strongest thunderstorms are expected to produce torrential downpours that can lead to flash flooding problems.
"Over 25 mm (1 inch) of rain could fall in a short period of time, so be cautious of flooded roadways and the rising water level of streams," Spamer said.
"These severe storms will also have the potential to bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, as well as hail."
Those planning to attend the Festival of Bavarian Beer Culture in Munich, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Bavarian (beer) purity law, should be prepared to seek shelter.
Severe thunderstorms will tend to be more isolated across northwestern and north-central Germany into Friday. This includes Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bremen and Hanover.

The return of the stormy weather has brought an end to the recent heat wave in western Germany, which produced temperatures of around 35 C (95 F) in Frankfurt, Cologne and Düsseldorf on Wednesday.
High temperatures will be held to near 25 C (77 F) by Saturday across the region.
"The severe weather danger will lessen on Sunday, but there will still be showers and thunderstorms across western and southern Germany," Spamer said.
Worse than disrupting outdoor plans, any slow-moving drenching thunderstorms in southern Germany can lead to isolated flash flooding where the ground is overly saturated from earlier storms.
Areas from Berlin to Dresden will dodge the worst of the weather with dry conditions dominating from Friday into Sunday.
Each day will feature a mixture of clouds and sunshine with high temperatures of 28-29 C (82-86 F).
