Temperatures will tumble more than 10 degrees Celsius across Germany this week following scorching weekend heat.
The jet stream will dive southward across central Europe, allowing much cooler air to rush into Germany while also triggering showers and thunderstorms.
While the temperature peaked at 32 C (90 F) in Berlin on Sunday, the mercury is expected to reach only 21 C (70 F) on Wednesday.
High temperatures on Wednesday will climb to only 17-19 C (63-66 F) from Hamburg to Cologne and southward to Stuttgart and Munich.
While widespread severe weather is not expected, locally damaging winds and hail are possible with the strongest thunderstorms on Wednesday.
The greatest threat for these storms is expected across the south and east, including Munich, Dresden and Berlin.

Slow-moving storms will also heighten the risk for flash flooding.
"Rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday will keep water levels high on streams and smaller rivers," according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
"Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways; turn around, don't drown," Roys said.
The weather will turn warmer and more tranquil from Friday into the weekend, just in time for anyone attending Kölner Lichter, the Kilianai festival or Melt! Festival.
