Celia Fizzling Rapidly in the Pacific Ocean

July 15,2016
Celia has now lost tropical characteristics after becoming the eastern Pacific basin's second hurricane of the season Sunday.
Here's the latest information on Celia:
  • Celia's center was located 750 miles east-northeast of Hilo, Hawaii.
  • Celia's thunderstorm activity continues to wane and Celia is now a remnant low.
  • The remnant low will likely drift well north of the Hawaiian Islands early next week.
  • Some small enhancement of showers, even in typical leeward locations, is possible as this happens next week.
  • On average, the season's third storm forms by July 5, according to the National Hurricane Center.
