Summerlike temperatures will continue to build across Germany this weekend and will stick around into early next week.
High temperatures will trend upward from Friday into Saturday, reaching levels more common during July than early May.
The high temperatures in Frankfurt will be near 24 C (75 F) both Saturday and Sunday, equal to the normal high during the middle of July. Similar warmth will be felt in Berlin with temperatures peaking near 22-23 C (72-73 F) both days.
The European Rowing Championships will continue in Brandenburg on Saturday and Sunday, offering a chance to see elite competition amid warmth and sunshine.
Though umbrellas will be left at home, sunglasses and sunscreen will be necessities.
While most of the extended holiday weekend will be dry across all of Germany with partly to mostly sunny skies, there can be a few isolated thunderstorms in the southwest Sunday afternoon.
The unseasonable warmth will continue next week as air from the Mediterranean flows northward into Germany.
Moisture will continue to increase across Germany from southwest to northeast next week.

A few showers and thunderstorms are possible in the southwest on Monday before spreading into southern and central Germany Tuesday and then being scattered throughout the country on Wednesday.
The stormy skies in these regions will be bad news for astronomy enthusiasts hoping to watch the transit of Mercury taking place on Monday.
According to Space.com, Mercury will pass between Earth and the sun between 1300 CEST and 2100 CEST. This event happens only 13 or 14 times a century.
Viewing conditions will be fair in southern and western Germany as sunshine mixes with clouds. Good conditions will prevail elsewhere amid mostly sunny skies.
