A passing storm system early Friday will set the stage for a brisk and chilly weekend across the Minneapolis area.
Highs Friday and Saturday will only reach the lower 50s F, more than 15 degrees below the normal of 68.
"The addition of gusty northwest winds will hold AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures down into the 40s throughout the day," AccuWeather Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.

This shot of cold air is not expected to bring any areas of precipitation, but those heading outdoors will want to bundle up.
Friday night is expected to be the coldest night as temperatures will reach the freezing mark, challenging a record low.
Those with any sensitive outdoor plants or vegetation should cover them up to prevent the buildup of frost.

Milder air will begin to build on Sunday.
"The chill will not last long as temperatures recover into the 60s for Sunday and into the first part of next week," Pydynowski said.
