Two strong earthquakes rocked Chile on Saturday.
The magnitude-6.8 temblor occurred at 4:31 a.m. local time Saturday and was centered 47 kilometers (29 miles) southwest of Ovalle, Chile, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The earthquakes were aftershocks of the magnitude-8.3 earthquake that struck on Sept. 16, 2015. At least 13 people were killed as a result of that earthquake.
The Chilean government initially issued a tsunami warning in the area of the earthquake, but later canceled the warning. The quake was the strongest felt in the regions from Atacama to Maule, the government reported on its Twitter feed; it was also felt in parts of neighboring Argentina.
No immediate damage or injuries were reported, according to The Associated Press.
Power outages occurred in Ovalle, Rio Hurtado and Coquimbo, the Chilean government reported.
