Severe Storms Spawn Damaging Tornado in Fort Worth, Texas

Severe storms rattled portions of the South Central United States on Thursday evening, bringing damaging winds and large hail.
An EF-0 tornado ripped the roof off a building in Fort Worth, Texas, and damage was also reported to cars in the parking lot, the Fort Worth Fire Department said. No injuries were reported according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Jordan Root said a line of strong storms pushed across central Missouri, Arkansas, and central and eastern Texas on Thursday evening.
The tornado first touched down near the intersection of Interstate 35W and 28th Street in Fort Worth and traveled about 4 miles, the National Weather Service at Fort Worth said. Its top winds were estimated between 80-85 mph.
Flight delays of up to an hour were in effect at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the FAA said.

Footage obtained from Moore, Oklahoma, showed the damaging effects of a microburst that struck the area earlier Thursday. The video shows the storm easily knocking down trees in its path, almost hitting a parked truck.

Storm damage forced the Ponder Independent School District to move its high school football game to Bowie on Friday night. No one was injured, FOX 4 TV reported on its Twitter feed.
In Decatur, Texas, about an hour to the northwest of Dallas, baseball-sized hail was reported. Elsewhere, wind gusts up to 60 mph were observed in the town of Denton.
