Severe thunderstorms have developed over the Plains and have produced several tornadoes over portions of northern Texas, western Kansas and southern Nebraska.
"A powerful storm emerging onto the Plains Monday evening and night will spark severe thunderstorms and tornadoes from the Texas Panhandle northward into southwest Nebraska," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Andrew Mussoline said.
"The situation will be particularly dangerous as the tornado threat will be ongoing well after sunset, making it nearly impossible to see an approaching tornado," he added.
The system producing the severe weather will also create hazardous winter weather in parts of Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas Monday night into Tuesday.
According to Mussoline, blizzard conditions will develop over eastern Colorado, western Nebraska and western Kansas as gusty winds usher in much colder air over the region.
