Blizzard conditions have battered parts of Illinois including areas around Chicago where 16 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 40 mph have occurred.
The snow will begin to wind down soon around Chicago but conditions will only continue to deteriorate from Detroit to Buffalo and east to Syracuse tonight.
"Heavy snow will push into New York state tonight as the system marches eastward," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Jordan Root said. "Blinding snowfall will create difficult driving conditions tonight, especially for folks who may heading home after participating in Super Bowl-related activities."
