Harrisburg: Arctic Blast to Usher in Last Week of February

Yet another round of frigid arctic air will settle across the Harrisburg area as the last week of February begins.
Hats, gloves and winter coats will be the common attire for people around the city on Monday and Tuesday with high temperatures in the 20s both days.
This is well below the normal high of 43 F.
As the arctic air arrives, residents and motorists should watch for black ice Sunday night into Monday morning.

Monday's high will actually be recorded prior to sunrise, before temperatures fall during the day. Brisk winds will create even lower AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures.
Monday night is expected to bring the lowest temperatures during this arctic blast with temperatures challenging the current record low for the date of 1 below zero set in 1889.

Temperatures are forecast to rise heading into Wednesday, but the comparatively warmer air will precede a storm system that could also bring snow showers to the region.
Any snow shower that moves through will likely not bring much in terms of snow accumulation before dry and colder weather returns by Thursday.
