Here's the US National Weather Summary for Monday,October 22,2012,as of 11PM,EDT/ 8PM,PDT, October 22,2012,from weatherunderground.com,enjoy:

The main weather feature Monday was a Pacific storm that slammed into the West Coast and provided a hint of Winter weather from Washington through California. Rain and high elevation snow fell from Washington through Central California. The Sierra Nevadas of California received several inches of snow, while over a foot of snow fell in the higher elevations. There were reports of traffic problems along Interstate 80 over the Sierra summit as traveling became increasingly dangerous. Low elevation rain fell as far south as Central California as some regions could see rainfall amounts approaching 1 inch by the end of the day. Breezy to windy conditions were also noted from the coast of California through the Great Basin. This storm may cause a problem later in the week, as well, as it moves eastward into the Rockies and Plains.

Meanwhile, another storm moved through the Plains and into Iowa by the afternoon. This storm did not contain much moisture, but scattered showers and thunderstorms eventually developed in Texas and Oklahoma in the afternoon. Heavier rain and thunderstorms fell through the Ohio Valley in the afternoon as well.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression Eighteen formed in the western Caribbean Sea and was expected to move northeastward over the next few days. While no landfall for the United States currently expected, the storm could approach the eastern seaboard next week.

The Northeast will rise into the 60s and 70s, while the Southeast saw temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The Northwest rose into the 40s and 50s, while the Southwest saw temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
