A low pressure system sitting off the coast of Washington will remain fairly stationary for the next few days. This will bring about 0.25 to 0.75 of an inch of rain across the area through late Wednesday night to early Thursday. Winds will be light, not reaching past 15 miles per hour at the coast and staying breezy around 5 miles per hour elsewhere.
Snow will fall in the Cascades through Wednesday night. From 2-4 inches of snow will fall at pass levels, which will be at 2,500 feet. The levels will start coming up on Thursday until they are at about 4,000 feet on Friday. More rain than snow will fall from Thursday through Friday.
Temperatures will be slightly below average for this time of year, with a high of 57 on Wednesday and 56 on Thursday. Lows will stay in the mid-40s. As the week progresses, temperatures will stay below average and conditions will be drier.
While this system is not consistent with an El Nino, this is not an indication of the approaching winter. Conditions are still trending towards an El Nino which should being a milder and drier winter to the area.
