Here's the "WeatherWhys",for Thursday,October 25,2012,as of 12AM,EDT,October 26,2012/ 9PM,PDT,October 25,2012,from accuweather.com,enjoy:
Most hurricanes develop a well-defined eye, caused by sinking air. The
downward motion causes the air to warm, which is a drying process.
Within the eye of the storm, the clouds are generally broken, no rain
falls and winds are relatively light. All this is in sharp contrast to
the fierce wind and torrential rain that are occurring in close
proximity in the eye well of the hurricane.
