Following a warm start to the week, big changes with snow are in store for Denver by Wednesday night.
A powerful cold front will plow through the Denver area on Wednesday night, bringing rain followed by snow as the low plummets into the upper 20s.
"While the snow will only fall over a window of about six hours after the cold air arrives, the rapid drop in temperature to near freezing could support accumulation on some road surfaces," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Bill Deger said.

In Denver, a light coating of snow will be possible. The heaviest snow, 3-6 inches, may fall farther north across the northern Colorado Rockies, southeastern Wyoming and western Nebraska.

Motorists should be prepared for slick and dangerous travel in spots along stretches of I-25, I-70, I-76 and I-80.
Colder air will linger through the rest of the week in Denver with the high only reaching near freezing on Friday. A snow shower may also be around, adding to the wintry feeling of the day.
