Although severe thunderstorms ripped across the Northeast early in the week, heat and humidity will take a break.
Summer came on full blast at the end of July and continued to bake major metropolitan areas throughout the Northeast during the beginning of August.
However, those looking to beat the heat will see some relief by the middle and end of this week.

In the wake of a cold front, high humidity will be swept from the Northeast by Wednesday. While the air will still be warm along the I-95 corridor, temperatures will be held below the 80-degree mark across a large part of the Northeast's interior.
Turning Cooler Northeast; Soaking Rain Late Week
Locations in northern New England will only see temperatures in the upper 60s F, placing afternoon highs closer to what is expected for the middle of September, rather than the beginning of August.

Further cooling on Thursday will return temperatures back to the normal along the I-95 corridor.
Due to the low dew points combined with the cooler temperatures, conditions will be ideal for outdoor activities.
"Not only will temperatures be lower than the previous weeks, but so will the humidity. Anyone that enjoys golfing, hiking and running should take advantage of these cool and comfortable conditions," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun said.

Heat and humidity will remain absent through the end of the week. However, the cooling across the mid-Atlantic Thursday and Friday may come at the hands of a storm system set to spread a band of rain eastward from the Ohio Valley.
