The Weather Geeks "Geek-dex"

By: Dr. Marshall Shepherd , 7:03PM,GMT on August 30,2015

When we started Weather Geeks last year, it was with the intent of bringing more intelligent and in-depth weather and climate science to curious viewers. We wanted to provide you with a nationally-televised science talk show that really got inside the minds of some of the top weather, climate and related professionals.

If you are just discovering Weather Geeks, you can catch up on past shows at this link.

Along the way, we have established that "Geeking Out" is cool. We have given you cool segments like "Hail No" and The Geek of the Week. By the way, you can nominate yourself or someone for Geek of the Week by messaging or tweeting us @WxGeeksTWC or contacting Dr. Matt Sitkowsi at The Weather Channel.

We thought that it would be fun to provide our great viewers with a mechanism to rate the Geek Factor of our shows each week. Meteorology is a science of scales (e.g., Saffir-Simpson Scale, Enhanced Fujita Scale).

The "Geek-dex" is a fun little index that gives you a chance to provide feedback on the "geekiness" of the show. We like geeky because we know that most of us that love "weather" have been "geeing out" on it since grade school or had a "weather" experience that changed our lives.

The Geek-dex:

1 - No need for any special books, websites, or expertise to understand what was said.

2- At least 25% of the words or concepts made me want to learn more.

3- At least 50% of the words or concepts made me want to learn more.

4- At least 75 of the words or concepts made me want to learn more.

5 -Hands down, I was lost but loved it anyhow :).

Ultimately, we hope the show provides you with insight and new weather/science literacy without taking ourselves too seriously. This show is a show for the public and the weather community, and we always want your input and ownership of it.....

As you watch each week, Tweet us @WxGeeksTWC or #WxGeeks and let us know your scale.
