Hurricane
Audrey still leads the record books for the most intense June
hurricanes. Audrey strengthened rapidly across the western Gulf of
Mexico and then made a destructive landfall near the Texas/Louisiana
border. It remains the earlist Category 4 on record. Alma, Alex and an
unnamed hurricane that hit Florida and the Outer Banks follow Audrey on
the list.
