Strong thunderstorms bringing the threat of blinding downpours, large hail and damaging winds are targeting areas of the Midwest and southern High Plains this evening.
"Warm and humid air will continue to fuel severe thunderstorm development across the Midwest and into the Plains this evening and into tonight," AccuWeather Meteorologist Jordan Root said.
"A line of severe storms is expected to form across north-central Illinois this evening near Chicago and blast southeastward," Root said. "Folks across northern Missouri, Kansas, and the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas will also be at risk for gusty storms through tonight."
