While the worst of a storm with blizzard conditions will stay well northeast of Pittsburgh over the Valentine's weekend, dangerous cold will sweep into the area with slippery travel.
Following snow showers from Thursday, the first of two frigid blasts will sweep into the area through Friday.
The arctic air will make it painful to spend much time outdoors without proper clothing into Friday night. AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will dip below zero F by Friday morning and will struggle to reach the single digits and low teens on Friday afternoon.
An Alberta Clipper will pass by to the north during the Valentine's Day weekend.

This storm will strengthen significantly upon moving over the Atlantic Ocean and will pack bitterly cold air, increasing wind and perhaps a small accumulation of snow in the area on Saturday.

While the storm is likely to strengthen too late to bring the Pittsburgh area long-lasting snow, it will strengthen enough Saturday night and Sunday to bring fierce wind and dangerous cold that will linger into Monday. As the leading edge of the frigid air moves in Saturday, there could be a brief burst of heavy snow.
RealFeel® Temperatures will dip well below zero Saturday night and will struggle to reach zero during the day on Sunday. Any fresh snow on the ground will be subject to extensive blowing and drifting.
The lowest temperatures of the winter are possible with the outbreaks of arctic air. The coldest it has been in Pittsburgh thus far this winter was minus 1 F on Jan. 8.
Temperatures could dip to near zero F by Monday morning in Pittsburgh, which would be the coldest since Jan. 7, 2014. The lowest temperature reading in January 2014 was minus 9 F.
