REPORTS: Severe Storms Plow Across North-Central Plains

Gusty winds, large hail and power outages occurred Sunday into Monday morning in the north-central United States.
The storms stretched from central and northeastern Kansas, western and central Iowa, southeastern Nebraska, northwestern Missouri and into southern Minnesota.
Glasco, Kansas, experienced 70 mph winds, and hail as large as tennis balls fell across the region. A dam failed north of Denison, Iowa.

2:39 a.m. CDT Monday: 58 mph gust at Iola, Kansas, according to NWS observation.

2:22 a.m. CDT Monday: 60 U.S. flights canceled with another 60 delays, according to FlightStats.
1:54 a.m. CDT Monday: Heavy rain reported at Ottawa, Kansas.
1:38 a.m. CDT Monday: 59 mph gust recorded at Emporia, Kansas, according to NWS observation.
1:27 a.m. CDT Monday: More than 7,500 Kansas power customers are without service, utilities report.

12:35 a.m. CDT Monday: 63 mph gust clocked at Goessel, Kansas, according to Mesonet.
12:19 a.m. CDT Monday: "There can be a few severe thunderstorms with damaging winds from eastern Iowa to central and eastern Kansas. Very heavy rainfall and flash flooding is also a concern. The severe thunderstorm threat has ended for Des Moines and Kansas City," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Mike Doll said.

10:51 p.m. CDT Sunday: Several vehicles stalled in flash-flood waters 2 miles east-southeast of Des Moines International Airport, reports fire department.
10:38 p.m. CDT Sunday: Numerous sections of Highway 44 around Dallas Center, Iowa, are flooded, emergency management reports.
10:28 p.m. CDT Sunday: Storms force rain delay between Cleveland Indians-Kansas City Royals with the Indians leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 10th inning at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

9:56 p.m. CDT Sunday: 60 mph gust 3 miles southwest of Richland, Kansas, reports trained spotter.
9:31 p.m. CDT Sunday: More than 4,700 Westar Energy customers are without service in Kansas, the utility reported.
9:28 p.m. CDT Sunday: 60 mph gusts with tree damage and power outage in St. Joseph, Missouri, spotter and police report.
9:22 p.m. CDT Sunday: 50 to 55 mph winds in Shawnee County, Kansas, said Mike Smith, senior vice president of AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions. Storms moving toward Kansas City but after 10:30 p.m. CDT for the Cleveland Indians-Kansas City Royals game at Kaufman Stadium.
