Hot and humid air will be swept away from Washington, D.C., on Sunday and Monday, following locally drenching showers and thunderstorms on Saturday.
The rain is forecast to move away well ahead of start of the Bengals/Ravens game at M & T Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
After spending much of the first week of September with weather more typical of July, temperatures will return to close to average September levels by early next week in the wake of a strong cool front.

Highs will be near 80 F with lows in the middle 60s. Temperatures will dip into the 50s in some of the northern and western suburbs.
