Muggy, Stormy Weather on Tap for New York Fashion Week

Humid and stormy weather will set the stage for the 2014 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City as celebrities and fashion icons flock to the various shows taking place citywide.
Fashion Week, affectionately nicknamed the "Super Bowl of Fashion," will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 4 and run through Sept. 11, as fashion icons such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Betsey Johnson, Tory Burch and others converge on New York City to display trends that will be in stores for spring of 2015.
Steamier air will surge into New York City on Friday and Saturday.

Humidity will be high, causing the AccuWeather RealFeel® temperature to climb well into the 90s and close to 100 F at times during the afternoon.

Attendees should prepare for a spotty afternoon or evening thunderstorm on Friday, threatening to soak those heading from venue to venue.
The wet conditions will likely hold off for the Project Runway, Stella Nolasco and Mark and Estel shows in the morning hours, but could bring delays for those traveling to see Rebecca Minkoff and Charlotte Ronson fashion later in the day.
The forecast could become more problematic mid-weekend.
"Late Saturday or Saturday evening will have the highest chance for disruptive storms," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said. "There could be some strong storms, with downpours and gusty winds, since the storms will arrive at the peak of heat and humidity."
Check in with AccuWeather's MinuteCast which is a patented minute-by-minute, highly localized precipitation forecast to keep informed on exactly when it will start and stop raining at a precise street address or GPS location throughout the event.
To help Fashion Week attendees stay one step ahead, as well as navigate sudden storms that could hamper the latest styles, the AccuWeather MinuteCast Storm Squad will be near the site of the runway shows throughout the day at Lincoln Center on Sept. 4 and 5, providing umbrellas, answering questions and demonstrating MinuteCast's must-have features.

Behind the stormy weather Saturday, cooler and less humid air will filter into New York City on Sunday. The high will top out in the upper 70s under sunny skies.
With DKNY, David Tlale and Katya Zol shows in the afternoon, those traveling on foot will see improved conditions from the previous day.
"The good news is, the dry and comfortable weather on Sunday will then stretch into the middle of the week, before another round of wet weather may arrive on Thursday," Dombek said.
Check in with AccuWeather.com's MinuteCast to stay ahead of any disruptive weather at Fashion Week.
