Showers and thunderstorms will remain in the Minneapolis area through the end of the week and into the weekend.
Clouds and thunderstorms will impact the metro area through midweek. On a local basis, some of the downpours can be heavy enough to cause flash flooding and travel delays.
High temperatures will be within a few degrees of 80 F. Average high temperatures this time of the year are in the lower 80s.
A brief break from the storms will occur later Tuesday night and Wednesday, as a pocket of dry air settles southeastward from Canada. However, the risk of showers and thunderstorms will increase Thursday and Friday as more moisture returns from the west and south.

It will warm up significantly on Thursday as highs approach 90 F.
Those with outdoor plans should be on alert for thunderstorms which could hinder activities. At the first sign of a thunderstorm, seek indoor shelter.

The Minnesota Twins will continue a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday and Thursday. Conditions for Wednesday's 7:10 p.m. CDT look good, but the threat for storms could lead to weather delays for Thursday's 12:10 p.m. game.
The threat for thunderstorms will continue into the weekend, as Saturday will be humid with times of clouds and sun and a couple of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
