Severe Storms to End Northeast, Ohio Valley Heat Wave

The end of the heat wave that has gripped the Ohio Valley and Northeast this week is near, but it will come at a price to some in the form of severe weather.
A cold front will continue to set off locally heavy, gusty thunderstorms in the sultry air on Saturday afternoon and these storms will march east through the evening.
The most intense thunderstorms will produce damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and torrential downpours.
An isolated tornado or two are possible, but the threat is low. A handful of the strongest thunderstorms will also unleash hail.

The storms could cause localized downed trees and power outages, as well as flash and urban flooding. Travel delays on roads and at the airports are likely as storms develop and roll through.
Locations that are in the threat area include Cincinnati, Albany, N.Y., Boston, Portland, Maine, as well as Hartford, Conn., New York City, Trenton N.J., Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Thunderstorms will be a threat to outdoor evening concert events at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (Taylor Swift), SummerSounds Concert near Washington, D.C. and Yankee Stadium (Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake).
In the wake of the thunderstorms and passage of the cold front, it will be cooler and not as humid across the Ohio Valley and Northeast on Sunday.
Saturday's highs in the 90s from Baltimore, Md., to Boston, Mass., will be replaced by highs in the 80s on Sunday. Portland, Maine, will cool down from Saturday's high of 92 degrees to a high of 76 degrees Sunday.
