Heat Wave Continues Into Next Week for the United Kingdom

Wednesday was the hottest day of the year thus far in London and many surrounding areas. Temperatures even topped 32 C (90F) in some locations.
The heat took a small step back Thursday, and this trend will continue on Friday and Saturday; however, temperatures will still remain well above normal across all of the United Kingdom.
The high pressure responsible for this recent stretch of abnormal heat will shift north Sunday into next week. This will allow the heat to build once again as temperatures could again approach the highest levels of the year early next week.

The only chance for relief will be a weak storm system that will approach from the south Sunday into Tuesday. Unfortunately, the best chance of rainfall will remain to the south across France, but enough moisture could steam northward to cause a shower or thunderstorm in a couple of spots.
Otherwise, the stretch of impressive heat will go on until at least next Friday when a storm system will attempt to approach from the Atlantic Ocean.
Not only could this storm system bring an end to heat wave, but it could also bring much needed rainfall. Much of the United Kingdom has received less than 25 percent of the normal rainfall for the month of July.
