Tropical Storm Erick, which formed south of Mexico on Friday strengthened Saturday morning to be considered a Category One Hurricane.
Erick continues to paralleling the coast of Mexico and is not expected to make landfall.
The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center expects this system to track northwestward through the weekend with its center of heaviest rain and strongest winds remaining offshore.

Its outer rain bands may still graze the southern Mexican coastline, accompanied by flooding downpours. That is especially true where the system will pass closest to land, likely from Acapulco to Manzanillo.
The system will also prolong the rough surf and rip current danger that was kicked up by Dalila along the south-central and southwestern coast, creating hazards to both residents and vacationers.
Meanwhile, Dalila continues as a weak tropical depression, spinning south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. It will continue to spin away from mainland Mexico, eventually reaching cooler waters and weakening further through the weekend.
Erick is also expected to start weakening by the end of the weekend. Moving in a similar path of Dalila into cooler waters, Erick will likely be down-graded to a tropical storm by the early part of the week.
