Widespread wintry showers are expected across the United Kingdom into this weekend.
A combination of cold air and a weak area of low pressure will bring snowflakes to London, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Cold air arrived from Scandinavia on Wednesday and will remain entrenched over the U.K. through the weekend, setting the stage for the wintry conditions.
A moderate to fresh breeze will further add to the chill by creating even lower AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures.
The wintry showers will become more widespread across the U.K. on Saturday with lingering unsettled weather for Sunday, especially across central areas.
Even though lasting accumulations are not expected outside of the higher elevations, travel impacts are still possible as roads can quickly become slippery during any snowfall.
"The highest chance for snow to coat roads will be at night, in the early morning and during the heaviest showers," Pydynowski said.
Northeastern England may also have more incidents of snow coating grass and roads than other lower elevations in the U.K.

“A burst of moderate to heavy snow on Saturday could bring settling snowfall to the lower elevations of northeastern England,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
This includes areas in York, Middlesbrough and Newcastle upon Tyne.
The higher terrain from the Midlands into northern England could get up to 8 cm (3 inches) of snow this weekend with the heaviest falling during the day on Saturday into Saturday night.
Outside of the hills, snow that settles during the daylight hours will melt shortly after falling as temperatures will climb above freezing.
Any wet untreated surfaces could become icy Saturday night as temperatures fall back below freezing, mainly in the outlying areas.
A shift from easterly winds to southerly winds early next week will bring an end to recent cold spell across the U.K. and also end the threat for wintry showers.
