Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,November 8,2016
A wet weather pattern will affect areas from the Northeast to the southern Plains on Tuesday, while a plume of moisture moves over the Northwest.
A cold frontal boundary will extend south southwestward from the Great Lakes to the southern Plains. As this frontal boundary transitions eastward, it will collide with warm and humid air from the Gulf of Mexico. This interaction will produce rain and thunderstorms across the southern Plains, the lower Mississippi Valley and the Gulf Coast. Light to moderate rain will also develop along and near this frontal boundary across the middle Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley, the Midwest, the interior Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast. A cold air mass will trail the frontal boundary, which will allow for rain to switch over to snow in portions of the upper Midwest. Most of the Eastern Seaboard should stay clear of precipitation on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a Pacific frontal boundary will move onshore over the Northwest. A plume of moisture will accompany this system, leading to moderate to heavy rain in western Washington, western Oregon and the northwestern corner of California. A ridge of high pressure will amplify over California and the Great Basin. This high pressure system will bring a dry weather pattern to areas stretching from the Southwest to the northern Plains on Tuesday.
