Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, January 26,2016

A low pressure system will shift across the Great Lakes on Tuesday, while a cold front affects part of the West Coast.

A low pressure system will trek northeastward across the Great Lakes and east central Canada. This system will produce gusty winds and light to moderate snow showers over the middle and upper Mississippi Valley, as well as the upper Great Lakes. A mixture of rain and snow will affect the Appalachians, the interior Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast. A cold frontal boundary will extend south southwestward from the Great Lakes to the western Gulf Coast. This frontal boundary will collide with warm and humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, which will result in rain and thunderstorms across the Deep South and the Southeast. A light mixture of rain and snow will also trail this system over portions of the southern Plains. Additionally, an arctic air mass will dive south southeastward over the northern Plains and the upper Midwest. This cold air will interact with the relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes. Lake effect snow will be possible across the upper Midwest as early as Tuesday evening.

Out west, a Pacific cold front will generate moderate rain and high elevation snow showers across the northern tier of the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies. High pressure along the coast of California will influence dry conditions from the Southwest to the central Rockies.
