Thousands of people will descend on Santa Clara, California, in the days leading up to the big game on Sunday, Feb. 7.
The Carolina Panthers will take on the Denver Broncos for the 50th Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium, home to the San Francisco 49ers. While the game takes place during California's prime "wet season" this year enhanced by El Niño, spectators may catch a break from unsettled weather on the day itself, AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.
"This year, we are in a strong El Niño, which raises the chances for rain every two to three days on the West Coast," he said. "We are going back into that pattern into the first week of February."

Fans arriving at the site early to take in concerts and attend events may face periods of rain the week before the game. Showers are possible around midweek. Those venturing to Super Bowl City in downtown San Francisco may want to take an umbrella or jacket.
However, a big high pressure system is expected to move over the region by Super Bowl weekend, so the showers will give way to higher-than-normal temperatures and plenty of sunshine, Pastelok said.

Highs are expected to hover in the low to mid-60s Fahrenheit during the day, dropping to the upper 50s by kickoff.
Pastelok said the break in the wet pattern falls just in time for the weekend's festivities.
As the teams and fans head home early in the week, rain could dampen travel on Tuesday.
