A low pressure system will bring impacts to the western half of the country on Saturday, while a weak frontal boundary shifts over the Great Lakes.
An area of low pressure will move east southeastward across the Intermountain West and the central high Plains. Moderate to heavy snow will spread across the northern and central Rockies, while mixed precipitation affects the northern and central Plains. Winter storm warnings are in place for Idaho, western Wyoming, northeast Utah and northwest Colorado. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend west southwestward. Moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow will impact central and northern California, as well as Nevada. Winter storm warnings are in place across the Sierra Nevada and the Ruby Mountains. Widespread freezing rain advisories are also in place for the northern Great Basin. Additionally, flash flood watches are in effect for the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and the southern Cascades. An onshore flow will persist over the Pacific Northwest. This will lead to similar weather conditions across Oregon and Washington.
