Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, January 23,2016

A strong low pressure system will impact the East Coast on Saturday, while a Pacific system moves across the Northwest.

A robust area of low pressure will shift northeastward across the Mid-Atlantic and the western Atlantic. This system will usher heavy snow across the central Appalachians, the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. Blizzard warnings are in place across northeast Virginia, Maryland, eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and southeast New York. Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet will be possible across the region. Snow totals will range between 2 to 12 inches across east central New England, the interior Mid-Atlantic and the eastern Tennessee Valley. A mixture of rain and snow will also affect the southern Mid-Atlantic on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a wave of low pressure will transition east southeastward across south central Canada and the northern Plains. This system will usher light snow over northern Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and northwest Michigan.

Out west, a Pacific system will push northeastward over northern California and Oregon. Moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow can be expected across the Pacific Northwest, northern California and the northern Rockies. Winter storm warnings are in place for the Sierra Nevada. By the afternoon and evening, light to moderate precipitation will spread eastward over the Great Basin and the central Rockies. Scattered showers will also be possible across southern California.
