Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,February 1,2015
A low pressure system will move across the Northeast on Sunday, while a wave of low pressure will slide over the Pacific Northwest.
An area of low pressure will move east northeastward over the Mississippi Valley and the Ohio Valley. This system will usher moderate to heavy snow showers across the central Plains, the upper Midwest, the Ohio Valley, the lower Great Lakes, the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England. Winter storm warnings are already in place from Iowa to Pennsylvania. A mixture of rain and snow will affect areas to the south of the low pressure system, focusing over the middle Mississippi Valley and the Tennessee Valley. In addition, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will aid in fueling rain and thunderstorms from the southern Plains to the Deep South. Early morning snow showers will trail this system over parts of the central and southern Rockies on Sunday.
Meanwhile, a wave of low pressure will shift eastward over the northwestern corner of the country. Light to moderate rain will spread across the Pacific Northwest and the upper Intermountain West, while high elevation snow showers are expected to develop over the Cascades, the northern Wasatch and the northern Rockies. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will bring warm, dry conditions to the Southwest and the Great Basin.
