Humidity and then the heat will get swept out of the Philadelphia area during the remainder of this week.
The passage of a cold front will open the door for drier air to pour into Philadelphia for Wednesday, sweeping away high humidity and the threat of thunderstorms.
Northeast Improves Late Tuesday
Despite the low humidity, temperatures will still flirt with the 90-degree mark. A high around 87 F is more common this time of year.
As sunshine wins out over clouds, any planning to spend a significant amount of time outdoors (including at the beach) should be sure to apply sunscreen or grab a hat.

The evening hours will be ideal for the baseball game between the Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park.
A reduction in the warmth will follow for Thursday with temperatures being held a few degrees below normal. Further cooling will occur on Friday as a storm system from the Ohio Valley tracks through the mid-Atlantic, returning rain.

The exact track of the system through the mid-Atlantic will determine if soaking rain crosses or just grazes Philadelphia from the south.
Whether this system continues to track eastward or turns to the north will determine whether the cooling will be the result of just a blanket of clouds or also rain.
