Winter Storm Venus Brings Heavy Snow to the Rockies and High Plains (FORECAST)

Winter Storm Venus dumped heavy, wet snow from the Rockies to the High Plains over the weekend. The storm will bring some additional snow to the Upper Midwest through Monday night.

On Monday morning, a mixture of rain and snow was falling over parts of South Dakota and North Dakota. This mixture of rain and snow will spread east into northern Minnesota through Monday night.
Some minor additional accumulations are possible in this swath, but overall Winter Storm Venus is winding down.

Denver International Airport picked up 4 inches of snow Saturday night into Sunday from Venus, while 9 inches was reported in nearby Aurora.
In Rapid City, South Dakota, 13.6 inches was measured at the National Weather Service Office. Venus was the second heaviest May snowstorm on record, there. In the Black Hills to the west of Rapid City, 19 inches was reported in the town of Lead.
Fort Robinson, Nebraska, picked up 24 inches of snow, which is the heaviest total from the storm in the High Plains.
Farther west, Flagstaff, Arizona, picked up 5.6 inches of snow Friday night into Saturday.
Late last week, Venus brought snow to the Sierra Nevada and the mountains of Southern California.
Palomar Mountain in San Diego County saw 2 inches of snow on Friday. The National Weather Service in San Diego says that the last time it snowed there in May was 1998.
