Summer warmth will dominate most of this week in Pittsburgh, creating the warmest days so far this year.
The thermometer at Pittsburgh's official weather observation site has yet to record a temperature above 80 F this year. That will change this week.

Temperatures will rise into the lower 80s on Monday, then will flirt with the 85-degree mark later in the week.
Such warmth is more representative of what is typical in the summer. Temperatures on these days will rise 10 to 15 degrees above normal early May high temperatures.

A good deal of sunshine and low humidity will compliment Monday's warmth. Residents will be able to wear shorts and short sleeves for a walk, bike ride or any other outdoor activity.
Due to the sunshine, anyone spending a considerable amount of time outdoors should remember to wear sunscreen.
The storminess could interfere with the baseball game between the Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday evening at PNC Park.
A stray shower will linger into Wednesday as the next warming trend commences.

For those planning to take advantage of the warmth to plant flower beds and gardens, AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Mark Paquette states, "I anticipate that the I-95 corridor, Ohio Valley and places near the shores of the Great Lakes are out of the woods for a frost."
"The period from May 13-15 may produce a clear, calm and cool night that could bring the last frost threat of the season for the Upper Midwest, northern Pennsylvania, upstate and western New York and the interior of New England," he added.
