Detroit: Cool and Dry Week After Wet Start

A change in the weather pattern is on the way for the Detroit area as we head through the first part of the week.
A cold front sweeping eastward will be the cause for a wet day on Monday, as well as cooler temperatures on Tuesday.
High temperatures on Monday will soar into the lower 80s, which is about 10 degrees below the normal for the middle part of May.
As the front makes its way through, it will trigger showers and thunderstorms throughout the day Monday. Gusty winds, small hail and heavy rainfall may accompany these storms.

While the rain and storms may be a nuisance as people go about their day, the region is in need of rain and was officially declared abnormally dry by the United States Drought Monitor on Thursday.
A raincoat, waterproof boots and an umbrella will still come in handy on Monday as rain and storms move through the region.
The front will push east of the region by Tuesday and a cooler air mass will settle into for a few days. Dry weather and plenty of sunshine can then be expected for the remainder of the week.
