Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,February 9,2015
A low pressure system will inch across the West Coast on Monday, while a separate system will slide over the Mid-Atlantic.
A strong Pacific system will move north northeastward over the coast of the Pacific Northwest. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southward. As this frontal boundary interacts with a plume of moisture of the eastern Pacific, moderate to heavy rain will set up across northern California and the Pacific Northwest. There will be chances of flash flooding along western facing mountain slopes, especially along the Cascades. Snow showers will be confined to the highest peaks of the northern Sierra Nevada and the Cascades. A wintery mix will spread eastward over the northern Rockies and the northern high Plains during Monday afternoon and evening. High winds will also affect the region. A ridge of high pressure will keep conditions relatively calm across the Desert Southwest and the southern Rockies.
The majority of the Plains will also experience dry conditions. Temperatures will be above normal across the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley.
Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will move eastward over the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic. Heavy snow showers are expected across New England and New York, while a mixture of snow and freezing rain will impact parts of the Ohio Valley and the northern Mid-Atlantic. In addition, light to moderate rain will develop across the Tennessee Valley, the southern Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast on Monday.
