Tropical Cyclone Fundi is still spinning near the coast of southern Madagascar.
After emerging from the southeastern coast of Africa, a tropical low has become Tropical Cyclone Fundi. While impacts to southern Madagascar will gradually wind down with the storm drifting farther to the south, locally damaging wind and flooding rainfall will remain through the rest of the weekend.
Light wind shear will aid in some minor strengthening into early this coming week after the storm moves to the south of the island.

Despite some strengthening, Fundi should remain a tropical storm with the worst of the conditions remaining just offshore.
Through Saturday afternoon, Morondava, located in western Madagascar, has received 120 mm (4.7 inches) of rain.

Along the southwestern coast of Madagascar, additional rain amounts could surpass 100 mm (4 inches) on Sunday. A flow of moisture from the Mozambique Channel will also lead to locally heavy rainfall along the rest of western Madagascar. Life-threatening flooding and mudslides pose serious concerns.
Western Madagascar is the most susceptible to flooding due to accruing a rainfall surplus over the course of the past 15 days.
