Rain showers will make a return to the Pacific Northwest late in the week, bringing stormy weather to the Seattle area into the new week.
Rainfall amounts through Monday will be in the 6-12 inch range across western Washington, including Seattle. The threat for flooding and mudslides will increase in the coming days.
"Rain will be heavy at times in Seattle Thursday morning, then taper off to showers in the afternoon," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Carl Erickson said.
Another surge of moisture will spread a heavy, soaking rain back into the city Thursday night into Friday, he added.
This stormy, moist flow will continue into the first part of the week, bringing more rain Saturday.
"There may be a brief lull in the heavier rain Saturday night before another storm sends additional heavy rain in Sunday into Monday," Erickson said.
The stormy weather pattern will begin to break down Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
