Weekend Storm to Soak Seattle, Portland

A wet weekend is in store for those across the Pacific Northwest as a potent storm system impacts the region.
Anyone headed to this weekend's NFL game in Seattle between the Seahawks and the Packers on Sunday afternoon should plan accordingly as showers will make for a damp game.
Friday provided a short break in the wet weather ahead of the weekend storm.
A much different story will unfold on Saturday as rain moves into the region, making residents and visitors in the Northwest reach for their umbrellas and raincoats once again.

The steadiest rain is expected to move in late on Saturday into early Sunday morning when between 1 and 3 inches of rain can fall along the I-5 corridor.
This includes the cities of Seattle, Olympia and Bellingham, Washington; and Portland, Salem, and Eugene, Oregon.
Some rain is forecast to dip down into northern California, but will likely fall short of reaching cities such as San Francisco and Sacramento and have little impact on the drought.

Enough rain is forecast to fall over the Northwest Saturday into Sunday to raise the risk of flash and urban flooding.
Small stream flooding is also possible due to melting snow and heavy rain on the intermediate elevations of the Cascades.
Areas along the immediate coast may also be affected by coastal flooding due to the strong onshore winds accompanying the system.
These winds will not be as strong farther inland, but can still occasionally gust up to 40 mph in areas west of the Cascades.

Much drier weather is expected to return for much of next week, although a few showers may still linger around into Monday.
This will provide more favorable travel weather for those across the region.
Thursday looks to be the next chance for rain to fall over the region; however, it does not appear like the rain will be as intense as it will be over the weekend.
