Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,October 18,2014

Expect wet weather to persist for the Great Lakes and Northeast on Saturday, while rainfall over the Northwest will quickly diminish early Saturday. A low pressure system over eastern Canada continues pushing a cold front eastward over the Great Lakes on Saturday. This will bring more scattered rain showers to the Great Lakes and Northeast, but heavy precipitation is not anticipated. Cooler temperatures along the far northern side of this system may produce a mix of rain and snow showers for parts of the northern Great Lakes areas. Cooler temperatures filling in behind this system will push cooler temperatures into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states late on Saturday into Sunday.

Out West, a strong low pressure system spinning over the Gulf of Alaska will continue pushing abundant moisture into British Columbia. The cold front associated with this system that brought rain to the Northwest on Friday will push northward and move through western Canada. Most moisture will remain to the north on Saturday, keeping the Pacific Northwest mostly dry.

Meanwhile, in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Gonzalo will lose some energy, reducing to a category 2 storm on Saturday with winds between 96 and 110 mph. As this system moves north of Bermuda, it will gradually start to turn to the east, remain well offshore of the East Coast of the US.
