Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,October 13,2014

A cold front will extend from the southern Plains to the upper Midwest on Monday, while a separate system will approach the West Coast.

A cold frontal boundary will stretch across the southern Plains, the central Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley on Monday. A strong flow of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will collide with this frontal boundary. Strong to severe thunderstorms will develop across a handful of states over the southern Plains, the Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the Gulf Coast. Severe thunderstorms will be possible over eastern Texas, southeast Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, western Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a threat of flash flooding to the middle and lower Mississippi Valley, as well as the Tennessee Valley and the central Gulf Coast. Just to the east, scattered showers will linger over portions of the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England, while the northeastern corner of the country will avoid wet weather.

Out west, a strong cold front will approach the Pacific Northwest. Heavy rain will develop ahead of this frontal boundary over western Oregon and western Washington. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions mostly clear over the Great Basin and the Southwest on Monday.
