A soaking rain will fall across the city later Thursday and Thursday night, but drier and more seasonable weather will move in by the weekend.
After unusually warm and humid weather early this week, a soaking rain set to move through the city will bring an end to the September-like warmth.
"The steadiest and heaviest rain may hold off until after Thursday evening's commute, but some disruptions may still result," said AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Erik Pindrock.

Although the rain will bring disruptions to travel Thursday evening and night, drier weather should settle in for Friday morning's commute.

A slow-moving storm and its associated cold front will be responsible for the wet weather. In wake of the cold front, it will turn more seasonable across the area.
"Drier and more October-like weather will settle into the city heading into the weekend," said Pindrock.
Highs will return to the 60s Friday and Saturday.
