Her most notable television role was that of a doctor on the show Chicago Fire. She was also heavily involved in Chicago-based theater productions.
She was taken to Evanston NorthShore Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
According to AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski, the storms fired up as a result of an advancing cold front.
"There were small clusters of storms that formed along the front," Sosnowski said. "One managed to hit the north side of Chicago during the afternoon. There was very little to nothing on the south side."
