Nor'easter to Hit Boston Thursday

A nor'easter with heavy snow, wind, rain and minor coastal flooding will affect Boston and much of New England Thursday and Thursday night.
Expect flight delays and cancellations to increase as the storm expands northward from hubs to the south.
Snow will spread over the region from south to north early Thursday morning and will become heavy at times during the day Thursday.

Where the storm remains all snow, northwest of the city there is the potential for a heavy accumulation, perhaps in the neighborhood of a foot. Blowing and drifting snow would develop Thursday afternoon and continue into early Friday and will add to cleanup issues and travel difficulties. For some people, the storm will seem like a blizzard.
In areas near the coast where snow mixes with or changes to rain there are still be slippery roads and disruptions to daily activities for a time Thursday.

Moderate winds and the weight of the snow at the height of the storm and immediately in its wake could lead to sporadic power outages and downed tree limbs.
Coastal flooding is also a concern during times of high tide late Thursday into early Friday.
The storm will depart early Friday morning and rain could change back to snow in some areas, but travel disruptions may linger in the wake of the storm throughout Valentine's Day.
Another storm system with snow will move in from the west during the first part of the weekend.
