An area of low pressure continued to trek northeastward along the
Eastern Seaboard on Wednesday, while a separate low pressure system
moved across the southern Great Lakes.
Winter storm warnings were issued across the Mid-Atlantic and New
England on Wednesday as a low pressure system moved across the Eastern
Seaboard. Heavy snow and freezing rain impacted the Mid-Atlantic and New
England, as Weatogue, Conn., reported a midday total of 11.0 inches of
snow, while Endwell, N.Y., reported a midday total of 12.5 inches of
snow. Spotty snow showers developed along the southern Great Lakes and
Ohio Valley as a separate low pressure system moved eastward over the
area.
Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary extended across the Gulf of Mexico
and the Southeast, as showers and thunderstorms popped up across Florida
and southern Georgia. Temperatures were very warm along the southern
tip of Florida, as Orlando, Fla., recorded a midday high of 86 degrees,
while Plant City, Fla., recorded a midday high of 86 degrees.
Wind chill warnings were issued across the northern Plains and the upper
Midwest on Wednesday due to an arctic air mass over the region. Dubois,
Wyo., recorded a morning low of -27 degrees, while Yellowstone, Wyo.,
recorded a morning low of -25 degrees. Low pressure brought a round of
light rain and snow to the eastern portion of the Southwest, the central
Rockies and the southern Plains, while the West Coast stayed clear of
precipitation.
